««Books (Publishing and Typesetting)»» Vestments About DownloadsHere you will find things related to my publishing work. Almost all of it is both Roman Catholic and liturgical by nature. My principal focus is in out-of-print liturgical books. I have several ongoing projects with various completion date estimates; most information about them can be found below. I am open to hearing suggestions for future projects as well. Feel free to reach out at FelisFidelis ã proton mail • com.
I am still looking for an artist capable of Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts or "Gothic" illustrations for the Breviary. This would include no fewer than seven full plates and, I hope, 12-15 smaller illustrations throughout, plus any supplemental devotional materials. If this goes well, the same artist would likely be kept for the Primer, which will be more liberally illustrated.
PROJECT NAME | ESTIMATED PROGRESS | ESTIMATED COMPLETION | ABOUT |
---|---|---|---|
SARUM BREVIARY | 8% | LATE 2026 | A new edition of the entire Sarum Breviary according to the Chevallon edition of 1531,with accents marked and standard contemporary orthography; Latin only. |
SAINT BEDE PRIMER | Planning | TBD | A primer, along the lines of those of the late-15th and early-16th Centuries, for the use of the laity. Founded upon The Office of the Dead (Dirige) and the Office of the Virgin according to the Salisbury Use, as above. Possibly to include Stations of the Cross, the Mysteries of the Rosary and/or other full-size illustrated plates and devotionals more in accord with modern tastes. Not an historic reproduction, and adapted as necessary to our day, yet still very undeniably very strongly English, very strongly Roman Catholic, and wholely recognizeable in form to any lettered Tudor. |
Out of respect for others working on an edition of the Sarum Missal based upon the Dickinson edition, I have ceased my work on the same. Though others are working on the Breviary, their goals and focuses are distant enough from mine that I consider my own work well worth doing.
